Vida I. Penrod, 96, died at 7:40 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. Penrod was an inspector at Corning Glass for 10 years, retiring in 1975. She
was a lifelong resident of Wells County and was a 1933 graduate of Petroleum High
School.

She was born April 14, 1914, in Petroleum to Charles A. Graham and Mary Elizabeth
Franklin Graham. She married Charles L. Penrod June 13, 1952, in Fiat, Ind.; her
husband died Jan. 2, 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Dixie (Hans) Reich of Geneva, Ohio; a stepdaughter,
Winifred (Fred) Hambleton of Fairmount; and 12 grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Leroy Penrod; a daughter, Donna
Handshoe; and a stepdaughter, Peggy Thompson.

Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney, and Lemler
Funeral Home in Bluffton. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the
funeral home with Pastor Devon Cook officiating. Burial will be at the Stahl
Cemetery in Wells County.

Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice and Palliative Care.
