YOAKUM: Joseph A. Lauer, age 77, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was born November 12, 1935 in Yoakum, to Joseph A. Lauer Sr. and Veronica Albrecht Lauer. He retired from maintenance at Union Carbide, Seadrift plant. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Yoakum American Legion.

Survivors: daughters; Danette Michalke and husband Rusty of Yoakum, Laurie Jahn and husband Rick of Yoakum, and Mary Lynn Machalec and husband JoJo of Yoakum; sons: Mark Lauer and wife Agnes of Yoakum and Joe Boy Lauer and wife Debbie of Inez; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters: Magadeline Nickel of Yoakum, Virginia Fitch of Tyler and Jean Trimmell of Victoria.

Preceded in death by; parents, wife Mary Ann Pekar Lauer; son-in-law Bo Jalufka; brothers: Robert Lauer and Berney Lauer; sisters: Genevieve Knox, Roberta Rohan, Lorene Macha, and Gladys Hoffer.

Burial will be at Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery in Sweet Home, TX. Pallbearers: Chad Jalufka, Chantan Michalke, Robert Lauer, Jermey Machalec, Kyle Jahn, Cullen Jahn, Dylan Lauer, and Berney Lauer Jr.
