Reva Beatrice Smith, 94 years old, of Green Castle, Missouri passed away on January 7, 2013 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
The daughter of Ernest and Mae (Conkin) Owings, she was born June 28, 1918 in Green City, Missouri.
On July 1, 1935 she married Clarence Ledford at Unionville, Missouri. On May 3, 1962 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, she married James Smith of Iowa City, Iowa.

Reva is survived by 6 children, Leland and Fran Ledford of Atkinson, Illinois, Ronnie and Patsy Ledford of Green Castle, Missouri, Phyllis and James Roop of Kirksville, Missouri, Owen and Helen Ledford of Novinger, Missouri, Orin and Joyce Ledford of Green Castle, Missouri, and William Lee and Cindy Smith of Iowa City, Missouri, also 15 grandchildren, Cindy Nelson and husband Steve of Arizona, Luan King of Atkinson, Illinois, Lee Ledford, Jr. of Minnesota, Janice McFarland and husband Randy of Green Castle, Missouri, Melissa Billington and husband Rick, of Kirksville, Missouri, Sheila Martin and husband Loren of Novinger, Missouri, Steve Ledford and wife Angela of Centralia, Missouri, Susan Roberts and husband Rusty of Novinger, Missouri, Sherry Sizemore and husband G.J. of Novinger, Missouri, Mark Ledford and wife Linda of Green Castle, Missouri, Angela Ballanger and husband Randy of Green Castle, Missouri, Tori Smith and fiancé Brian Pinney of Tipton, Iowa, B.J. Smith of Iowa City, Iowa, Randall Ledford and wife Scarlett of Kirksville, Missouri, Kenney Ledford of Kirksville, Missouri and a very special friend and neighbor Sunny Johnson Tipton of Green Castle, Missouri, 30 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Donna Belle Ledford in 1944, and 1 son, Randy Joe Ledford of Ft. Riley at Junction City, Kansas in 1974, 1 grandson, Scotty Joe Ledford of Junction City, Kansas, her husband James Smith of Iowa City, Iowa, 1 brother, Marvin Owings of Kirksville, Missouri, 3 sisters, Woneva Sizemore, of Green Castle, Missouri, Matella Bland, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Nadine Snyder of Princeton, Missouri.

She worked at International Shoe Factory in Kirksville, Missouri, a Poultry processing Co. in Geneso, Illinois, Curt Yokums Steak Restaurant in Coralville, Iowa, and volunteered at VA hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. For 5 years, was one of the founding group that started the Johnson County congrate meals for the elderly and retired from them as the head cook. She won several awards while with them.

She loved being with and cooking for her family, being outdoors, loved her dear friends and neighbors, playing pitch, and really enjoyed spending hours in her porch swing at her home in Green Castle, Missouri.

Funeral services were held 2:00PM, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City, Missouri. Rev. Darrell Crooks officiated. Pallbearers were Steve Ledford, Scott Martin, B.J.Smith, Randall Ledford, Loren Martin, G.J. Sizemore, Nicholas Billington, Randy Ballanger, Randy McFarland, Earl Bachman, Floyd Owings, and Lonnie Johnson.

Burial followed in the Morelock Cemetery north of Green Castle, Missouri.

Donations can be made to the Reva Smith Memorial fund in care of the Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City, Missouri.
