Carl William Leidall, Marion pioneer, died at Staples, Minn., Municipal Hospital last Tuesday having taken ill while visiting with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Brandt at Motley, Min.
Mr. Leidall was born in Milbank, S. Dak., December 13, 1884. When a small child he moved to Lyle, Minn., with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Knute Leidall. He attended school there and in 1907 with two brothers, Robert and Oscar, came to Marion, where he farmed. Mr. Leidall and Miss Clara Severson were married at Marion in 1913 and farmed five miles west of there. Mrs. Leidall died in August, 1941. He then retired from the farm and has since lived with his children.
Surviving are the following children: his daughter, Mrs. Brandt; Norman, Page; Mrs. Ray Justesen, Litchville; Mrs. Leonard Lee, Montpelier; Mrs. Melvin Anderson, Austin, Minn.; six brothers; Leonard, Walter and Clifford, Lyle, Minn.; Albert, Enderlin; Robert and Oscar at Marion; 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Marion Lutheran Church Thursday, May 1 a 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Vold of Montpelier in charge. Miss Vold accompanied by Mrs. Landvick sang "Rock of Ages", "Abide With Me."
Pallbearers were six brothers, Robert and Oscar of Marion, Albert of Enderlin, Leonard, Walter and Clifford of Lyle, Minn. Honorary pallbearers were: Cal Anderson, Norman Winkelman, Ed Lillehoff, Henning Jensen, Andrew Larson, Elliott Johnson. Burial was made in the Marion Cemetery.
