Issac was a Scout for the Union Army in the Civil War. He took recruits to Kentucky. One dark night as he came home, walking along a path beside the river, he heard a growl, looked up and there was a panther on a limb above his head. He walked along quietly, and hid in the first crevice of a huge rock, until his heart stopped jumping, which by this time the panther had gone. The government tried to pay him for his services but he would not accept as he said he was doing this for his country.
