Born May 10, 1939, in Booneville, Mo., son of the late Aaron L. and Velma Milam Gist, he was a truck driver and of the Pentecostal faith.
He married Janey Thornton, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Dant, U.V. Cleevland and Beatrice Blair.
Survivors include one son, Corey Gist, of Steele, Mo.; two brothers, Bill gist, of Manila, Ark. and Julius L. Gist, of Booneville; two sisters, Dorsey Blair, of Steele and Reba Cochran, of Armona, Calif., and one grandson, Blake Gist, of Steele.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Steele Assembly of God.
Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele is in charge of arrangements.
