Alice Ruth (Mackay) Kiler was born on March 1, 1937, in Mendocino, California, the daughter of Dr Victor S Mackay and his wife.

She spent most of her time investing in the lives of children, be it her 2nd graders, her leather crafters etc, in 4-H, soccer kids she refereed or coached, her own two boys and all their friends and, finally and most enjoyable of all, her three grandkids! Their fondest memory of her might be her love of ice cream.

Besides teaching, Alice had several jobs, including supervising the 4-H Building at the Orange County Fair for several years. She was also 'Mom' or caregiver to many and a friend to all, and she had a talent for taking in 'human' strays.

Alice passed away on November 21, 2012 in Huntington Beach, California, after her second battle with cancer.

Preceded in death by her parents and many of her friends, she was survived by a sister and her family; her ex-husband; two married sons; and three grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held at Reformation Lutheran Church on Magnolia Street in Westminster, California, and she asked to have her ashes scattered at sea up the coast in Mendocino, California, her birthplace.
