The following obituary was found by Brenda Arndt: Funeral service was held yesterday morning at College Park Baptist church for Dr. J. T. J. Battle, 81, prominent medical director of the Jefferson Standard Life Insurance company and a foremost Baptist leader in North Carolina, whose death occurred Sunday morning at Wesley Long hospital following an illness of one week caused by heart trouble. The pastor, Rev. Wilson Woodcock, and Dr. R. G. Kendrick, of Hudgins, Va., former pastor of Forest Avenue Baptist church, conducted the rites. Members of the Guilford County Medical society, officers and directors of the Standard Life Insurance company and the deacons of College Park church attended in the body.
A graveside service, conducted by Rev. Mr. Woodcock and Dr. Eugene Olive, pastor of Wake Forest Baptist church, was held yesterday afternoon at Wake Forest. Active pallbearers were Dr. A. Ray Jordan, D. J. Tribble, D. E. Buckner, Brian Alexander, E. W, Sharpe, C. O. Weaver, B. B. Stockard and Robert C. O'Neal.
