Funeral services for James Albert (Jim) Talley will be held
Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 2pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Anadarko,
Oklahoma. Talley, age 89, of Anadarko, died Tuesday, January 8, after a
short illness. He died surrounded by family and friends.

James Albert Talley was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on March 24, 1923. He was
raised south of Mountain View, Oklahoma, where his father James Joshua
Talley and mother Emma Lee Lasley Talley operated a grocery store. After
graduating from Sedan School in 1941 where he served as the Class President,
he moved to Long Beach, California, where he worked in his uncle's night
club.

Jim moved to Palm Springs, California, in 1950 because it reminded
him of the small towns in western Oklahoma where he was raised. He married
the former Geneva Anderson in Las Vegas, Nevada, in January, 1954, and they
established their home in Palm Springs. He worked as a bartender in several
establishments in the Palm Springs area for over fifty years until his
retirement in 2003 when he moved back to Oklahoma.

For the last nine years Jim resided near Anadarko, Oklahoma, with family.
Always the consummate gentleman, Jim made numerous friends in the Anadarko
area and enjoyed renewing acquaintances from his childhood.

His wife, Geneva, preceded him in death in December, 1990. He married the
former Dani Nolan Asher in 1993 and she preceded him in death in August,
2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Max G.
Talley.

Survivors include a step-son of Miami, OK; sister-in-law of Anadarko, OK; cousin of Ardmore, OK; four nephews and their spouses, niece and her husband of Anadarko, OK. He also enjoyed the company of his many great-nieces and nephews.

Services were managed by Steverson Funeral Home in Anadarko and by Wiefels & Son Funeral Home in Palm Springs. Jim will be buried near his wife Geneva in the Desert Memorial Park Cemetery in Palm Springs, California. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to: Braille Institute of America, Inc., 741 North Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles,California 90029.
