"Grandma Norie Moses", age 86, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, literally surrounded by her loved ones who sang to her and gave her the love she needed to leave. She was born October 23, 1922 in Cedar City, Utah to Nephi Garrett and Clarinda Dalton Stevens. Nora grew up in Rockville, Utah, with her family and friends. Her dad died when she was five. She went to a one-room school in Rockville and later attended Hurricane schools. Nora met Lowell Redd Adams in Salt Lake City and they were married on September 15, 1942 in Evanston, WY. This marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on June 7, 1957. They are the parents of two children, Connie and Mike. She worked at the Naval shipyards in Alameda, California, alongside her sister Thelma, rat-proofing and welding ships. All her life Nora loved to dance, go fishing and camping with her husband, Redd, taking their children and grandchildren in later years. She loved gardening and making the land beautiful. She was always the life of the party and fun to be with. Nothing could be "plain" and if it were, Nora had to make it beautiful. Nora was very creative in all she did, and loved making things fun and beautiful for others. She herself was very beautiful and always made sure she looked her best. She and Redd moved to Cedar City, UT to be closer to their children and her mother, who lived in Rockville. After Redd died on November 5, 1985, she moved to Leeds, and for the last three years resided at the Beehive Assisted Living Center in St. George. In Healdsburg, CA, Redd and Nora started the YMA and YWAs program for the youth in the LDS Church. She was a Relief Society Counselor and teacher. Nora is survived by her daughter, Connie (Russell) Peine, Leeds, UT; son, Michael Redd (Paula) Adams, Orangevale, CA; 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and counting; sister, Velva Jamison, St. George, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Redd; granddaughter, Rebecca Sue Peine; sister, Thelma Moody; and her brothers, Darel Stevens and Neldon Stevens. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leeds Ward Chapel, Leeds, UT. Visitations will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, UT, and again on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the Church. Interment will take place in the Leeds Cemetery Published in The Spectrum on September 18, 2009.
