Donna Kay McPhee, 49, of Evansville, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2008, while being cared for in her home by her husband. Donna fought a ferocious battle with cancer until her last breath. Donna was born in Kentucky on May 9, 1958. Her family moved back and forth between Kentucky and Indiana. Donna graduated from Castle High School in 1976. Donna painstakingly worked her way up the health care ranks. Beginning as a QMA, nursing assistant, L.P.N. and eventually R.N. For over eleven years, Donna worked while attending school full-time and part-time. Donna began her scholastic career at Ivy Tech and ended at U.S.I., earning a Health Service degree and a Nursing degree, graduating with honors in both programs. During those years she still fulfilled her role as wife, mother, daughter and grandmother. Donna somehow found time for charitable works such as serving on her credit union board and being the neighborhood nurse among other contributions. She was driven for her family and her passion for people in general. Donna is survived by her husband, William Michael McPhee, Christina Marie Mount (Richard), Nicole Marie St. Clair (Josh), Richard Earl Leistner (Sarah), both stationed in Iraq, the "babies" Joy Elizabeth McPhee of Chicago and Michael Simmons, who attends Harrison High School, Donna's Brady Bunch. Also surviving are her parents, Robert Alvey, Sr. and Mary-Ann Alvey; in-laws Arthur "Bucky" and Joyce McPhee, Randy (Darla) Alvey, Robert Alvey Jr., grandchildren Dakota Waylen Mount, Kila Adrian Majors, Lane Noel St. Clair, Keaton Marie St. Clair, and new baby sister Reese. She also leaves behind many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, that she adored. Donna was preceded in death by her brother, Darryl. A special thanks to those who endured to the end, Kathy Wadjikowski, Jill Howell and Renee Manna. There will be no visitation at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the funeral home. For those unable to attend, there will be a private service at the McPhees' home at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
