Frances Cisson "Frankie" Culler, 92, of Orangeburg died peacefully Monday, January 7, at the Oaks surrounded by family and a special friend.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday January 10th at Limestone United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Robert Walker and Rev. Matt Rucker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Culler was the daughter of the late Henry B. Cisson and Lillian Fortner Cisson. Mrs. Culler graduated from Winthrop College in 1942 and taught 37 years in the Orangeburg Public Schools and 31 years at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Known as the "conservation teacher," she authored a teaching unit entitled "Learning to Live with Our Land and Water" which was published by the South Carolina Conservation Districts and was made available to all elementary teachers in South Carolina. She was an innovative teacher who enjoyed seeing her students flourish. Beginning in the late 1940's, she served more than 50 years as the music director for Limestone United Methodist Church and also served as choir director for North United Methodist Church for 20 of those years. She was a wonderful loving mother and grandmother, and a dedicated wife of 67 years. She was loved so very much by her family and friends and will always be an inspiration to all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband Warren V. Culler, III, of The Oaks, five sons, Sonny Culler, Baxter Culler and wife Fran, Cary Culler and wife Nicole, Gregg Culler and wife Annette, Jay Culler and wife Mandy; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
