Everett D. Davis, 64, of Durant, died Sunday, July 27, 1997, at Genesis Medical Center-West in Davenport.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Memorials may be made to the family in his memory.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, with Rev. David Lawson officiating. Music provided by organist Mabyn Fox and vocalist Henry Bentley. Pallbearers are Lorin Fox, Joel Meincke, Jeff Hendrych, Wayne Lincoln, Greg Christensen and Jerry Fuller. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Everett Donald Davis was born August 5, 1932, in Wayne County, the son of Ray and Mary (Kirkland) Davis. He married Margaret Joann Fadiga on January 20, 1956, in Davenport. He was employed as an operator and foreman for the Durant Municipal Electric Company for over 40 years, until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Muscatine Moose Lodge. He loved gardening, sports and tinkering with small appliances.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret; six daughters, Marjorie (Kevin) Giebelstein of Bennett, Robin (William) Hart and Regina (Chris) Daniel, both of Durant, Amy (Steve) Sommers of Apple Valley, MN, Linda Davis of Moline, IL, and Peggy Davis of Stone Mountain,GA; 12 grandchildren; and two brothers, Howard Davis of Centerville and Richard Davis of Plano.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Lue Ann Giebelstein and one brother, Marvon Davis.
