Gloria L. Confer, 78, Watsontown
WATSONTOWN -- Gloria Levan Confer, 78, of 115 Murray St., passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at her home.
She was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Watsontown, the daughter of the late Lawrence "Kelly" and Miriam (Phillips) Levan. She and her husband, Nevin Roland Confer, celebrated 57 years of marriage before his death Jan. 30, 2007.
Gloria was a 1949 graduate of Watsontown High School.
She was employed as a waitress at the Day Star and Noll's restaurants in Watsontown and also previously worked at Philco Corp., Watsontown. She retired in 1993 from American Home Foods, Milton, with 32 ½ years of service.
Gloria was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown.
Earlier in life, she participated in card clubs and bowling leagues. Gloria enjoyed making afghans, but her biggest joys in life were keeping an immaculate house, a beautiful yard and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis W. and Penny L. Confer of Watsontown; two grandsons, Kyle Confer and his wife Sara of Bloomsburg and Travis Confer of Watsontown; two great-grandsons, Eric and Logan Confer of Bloomsburg; and four step-great-grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew, Araya and Zoe Miller.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Fred Phillips.
In keeping with Gloria's wishes, there will be no viewing. However, visitation with friends and family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where a memorial service will be held at 2 with the Rev. Paul Smith, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Watsontown, officiating.
Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Gloria's memory be made to the Warrior Run Area Fire Department, P.O. Box 8, Watsontown, PA 17777, or to the American Cancer Society, Union County Unit, 57 Reitz Blvd., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
