Mitchell Lewis passed away, in the Shirliff Manor Nursing Home, at the age of 88.

He was the son of Charles and Rebecca (Moore) Lewis. He married Anna Josephine Carmody on September 1, 1920 and she preceded him in death on February 12, 1969.

He had two sons, Kenneth Mitchell and Bernard Cameron Lewis; a daughter, Mary Eloise Brewster; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mitchell Lewis, 88, died Thursday at a Mt. Carmel nursing home. He had resided in rural Allendale.

Services will be conducted at the Ingram Funeral Home in Allendale with the Rev.Charles McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Allendale Cemetery.

Born in Lawrence County Sept. 14, 1894, he was the son of Charles and Rebecka Moore Lewis. He was married to Anna Josephine Carmody, who preceded her husband in death Feb. 12,1969.

A veteran of World War I, he had been involved in oil field work.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth, Sterling, Colo, and Bernard, St. Francisville; a daughter, Eloise Brewster, Allendale; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
