John Thomas Rhoads;
John Thomas Rhoads was born in 1842 in what was then Franklin County, Missouri. Thomas enlisted in company H of the 26th Missouri on October 19, 1862 and was mustered in on October 27, 1862 at St. Louis. Thomas served with the regiment 6 months before the hardship of army life took its toll on him. He became ill and was left at Milliken's Bend on April 24 and died May 10, 1863 in the Elliott General Hospital in St. Louis. The cause of death was listed as "Chronic Diarrhea."
