Mr. Charles Baker English, son of the late Robert F. English and Cruze Baker English, was born September 14, 1902 in Cumberland County and departed this life on Friday, March 22, 1991 at 4:20 a.m., at the McDowell Skilled Nursing Facility in Greensburg. He was 88 years, six months and seven days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Greensburg Baptist Church at the time of his death. He united in marriage to Lillian Pearl Blakeman on October 26, 1942, who preceded him in death on Sept. 27,1975. To this union were born four daughters and two sons: Louise Weir, Franklin, Tennessee; Geneva Penick, Bowling Green; Bobby English, Louisville; Margie Simpson, Glasgow; and Carolyn Hall, Summersville. Garnett English preceded his father in death in 1926. Mr. English united in marriage to Alice Hatcher Rucker on March 16, 1979, who survives. Mr. English is survived by two step-children: Julia Judd, Greensburg, and Maxine Moran, Fairdale, Kentucky. He is survived by one brother and four sisters: Hershel English, Ohio; Clyde Breeding, Campbellsville; Nancy Page, Cane Valley; Thelma Jones, Texas; and Naomi Cheatham, Columbia. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four step-grandchildren (and six step-great-grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr, Charles Baker English were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Rev. William Karnes and Rev. Ivan Jones officiated. Pallbearers were Joe English, Marvin Breeding, Sam Garrison, Billy Ray Page, Lester Davis, Rural Moran, Olin Risen and Jimmy Weir.
