Charles was the son of John and Lucinda Gordon Mills, and the husband of the former Louise Fouche, who survived him by a year. He was survived by his children Cerelia Thomas, Charles, John, Ernest, Louise Funk and Howard, several grandchildren and a sister Ida Carter.
Charles was predeceased by three of his children, Alfred, Louisa in 1903 and George in 1922. A grandson, Charles Mills, was killed in World War II.
Charles retired from the B&O Railroad in 1937, after almost 50 years of employment there. He belonged to the Knights of Pythias and the Methodist Church in Brunswick.
