TRIBUTE OF RESPECT
Camp Lee, near Savannah
2nd Regiment Ga. State Troops
January 21, 1862
At a meeting of the Bragg Rifles, Co. F, 2nd Regiment Georgia State Troops, held this day, the following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS, It has pleased a kind Providence to take from our ranks our much loved brother and fellow soldier, Private F. A. Ansley, who died on the night of the 15th ult, in Savannah, of typhoid dysentery, therefore be it
Resolved, That we deeply deplore the loss of one so young, so talented and so generous - that in his death we have lost a boon companion, and in whose society we passed many hours. In all the varied phases of the trying life of a soldier he was the brave companion in arms, the beloved messmate, and a perfect gentleman.
Resolved, That although his death occurred among strangers, far away from his loved home, yet kind hands smoothed his dying pillow, and love whispered of a blest home beyond the stars, where the wicked cease from troubling and the weary are at rest.
Resolved, That we return our sincere thanks to Mrs. Marshall, for the kindness exhibited by her toward the deceased. May she long be remembered.
Resolved, That while we do not intrude upon the deep grief of his stricken family, and relatives, yet we cannot refrain from offering them our heartfelt sympathies.
Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be transmitted to the family of the deceased, and a copy sent to the Macon Daily Telegraph and to the Savannah Republican.
Capt. J. S. Lee,
Lieutenant J. F. Vinson,
Private W. E. Williamson, Com.

At a meeting of the Wise Guards held at Camp Wilson on this the 20th day of January, 1862, Capt. M. J. McMullan presiding, the following resolutions were adopted:
Whereas, It has pleased an allwise Providence to remove from our ranks fourteen of our best soldiers, to-wit: James Taylor, Corporal George R. Johnson, and privates George M. Gaines, John J. Murray, Wright Jones, C. D. Barfield, W. T. Oliver, Wm. B. Clark, W. W. Hubbert, C. J. Robinson, Geo W. Taunton, Thomas Crutchfield, John J. Ricks and John H. Miller,
Resolved, That we deplore the loss of our comrades and brothers in arms; that in their loss we have suffered much and our country more. They were good soldiers and excellent citizens.
Resolved, That while we deeply deplore their loss and the affliction that has overtaken us, we also console with the friends and relatives of the deceased.
Be it further resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be forwarded to the Macon Telegraph for publication.
