Obituary: "Mrs. Harriet N. Sindel died May 20 [1894], of cancer, from which she had been a patient sufferer during the past year. She was born Sept. 23, 1814, in Morris County, N. J., and was married to John Sindel June 30, 1831. In 1834 they moved to what is now Fulton County, and she has lived sixty years on the farm on which she died. There were 11 sons an 3 daughters and six sons and one daughter remain to mourn their loss. She endured all the hardships of a pioneer life and it may be truly said of her grand life that she was a kind neighbor and affectionate wife and loving and indulgent mother. The funeral service was held at her late residence. The sixty teams that followed her remains to her last resting place to await the resurrection of the just, attests the very great respect in which she was held by people all over the county. After a long and useful life full of patient Christian resignation, she rests from her labors as her Savior has called her to a better home. --We take this method of thanking the friends and neighbors for their respects and assistance at the funeral of our mother, Harriet N. Sindel and special thanks goes to the choir for their excellent singing." (Transcribed by Sheila Chonko -source unknown)

Book: "Harriet Newel Dixon and her Descendants by Estill L. Sindel, of Delta, Ohio: Harriet Newel Dixon (Lot and Phoebe Leonard) was born in the old homestead at Rockaway Neck, near Pine Brook, New Jersey, where her early years were spent. There, June 30th, 1830, she married John Sindel, born 1810, died 1877. Several families bearing that name lived at that time in that section of the country, but I have been unable to discover any records that reveal any further history of this John Sindel. In 1834, they removed from New Jersey to Winameg, Fulton County Ohio, where they purchased a farm and spent their remaining years. Children: ...."
