Josiah Owen was the first American born child of the immigrant John Owen, also of Windsor, but originally from Oswestry, Shropshire, England.
Marriages:
- Josiah Owen I, (b. Sept. 8, 1651 Windsor, Hartford, Ct., d. 11 Sept 1722 Windsor; the ceremony was performed 2 or 22 oct. 1674). Josiah was the first American born child of the immigrant John Owen, also of Windsor, but originally from Oswestry, Shropshire, England.
Children of Josiah and Mary:
- Josiah II (b. June 6, 1675, Windsor);
- Isaac (b. born June 4, 1678, Windsor);
- Mary (b. February 15, 1679/80, Windsor);
- Abigail;
- Esther (probably died young);
- Elizabeth;
- Lt. John Owen;
- Rachel.
The location of Mary's grave is not know. Josiah had moved the family from Windsor to nearby Simsbury from 1682 to 1697, so her body was likely interred there. There are several early Owen burials in Hop Meadow Cemetery, so this is a possible place (although Josiah could have returned her body to Windsor where members of their families had been buried).∼Mary is the fifth child from her parents, John Osborn and his wife, Ann Oldage. She was born in Connecticut and it is thought that is where she died.
Mary had a total of nine(9) siblings, and they are: John, Ann, Nathaniel, Samuel(#1), Esther, Isaac and Sarah.
