COOKEVILLE — Funeral services for James Eli Allison, 70, of Ft. Myers, Fla., will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Allison Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home.

Mr. Allison passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Health Park Hospital in Ft. Myers.

He was born Feb. 15, 1942, in Putnam County to the late Eli Heard Allison and Emma Murphy Allison.

James was a veteran of the Air Force and was a retired real estate and mortgage broker in Ft. Myers. During his life, he had also owned an appliance store, and worked as a machinist with Douglas Air Craft. While working with Douglas, he had worked with a space shuttle and his work is displayed in the Smithsonian. Mr. Allison was a charter member of the San Carlos Optimist Club and a charter board member of the Triad Youth Home. James loved fishing, had a green thumb as a gardener, and enjoyed both in his spare time. He and his wife, Marlene, attended the Estero Baptist Church in Ft. Myers.
