Reuben was the son of Rudolph and Mary (Heller) Snyder.
Reuben and Philena Mary (Curtis) Snyder were the parents of;
Edith "Amelia" Snyder (1847-1931), she married Jacob Seitters (1844-1833).
Rudolph Curtis Snyder (1851-1925),he married Emma Caroline (Chapman) Snyder.(1850-1899).
Douglas A Snyder (1864-1946), married Martha (Howe)(1869-1931).
Adopted; Calisate (Kitty) Colvin (1860-1930), she married Willian Kedzie Curtis, (1854-1939).

Reuben Snyder was an infant when he moved with his father to Burlowville, New York. At the age of 12, he moved to New Haven, Ohio. He married Philena Curtis at New Haven, Ohio. The couple moved to Dayton, Oregon in 1881. Survived by two sons and one daughter - R.C. Snyder, D.A. Snyder, Mrs. Amelia Seitters; one adopted daughter - Mrs. C.M. Curtiss; two sisters - Mary Moore, Eliza Chapman; 13 grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren. He enlisted in the Union Army on 12 February 1864, serving during the rest of the war, being a member of the One Hundred and Twenty-Third Ohio Infantry.
