Maxine Gorden, 75, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Heritage Oaks West after a long illness.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Corsicana.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Terri Hildebrand officiating.
Ms. Gorden was born Sept. 2, 1928 in Blooming Grove. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. She later worked with her second husband at Golden Motors. Many got to know her as the "Picture Lady" at Photo Kwik. When Photo Kwik closed, she became assistant manager of Royal Optical. Maxine enjoyed camping at Navarro Mills with her family, where there was fierce competition and lots of laughter at games of 42, poker and 31.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Gorden; mother, Tillie Ward; several brothers and sisters; and her fiance, Mike Gandy.
Survivors include daughters Vicki Jennings of Tyler, and Sherri Richardson and husband Rick of Corsicana; sisters Pat Dawson, and Daisy Scruggs and husband Dewey of Corsicana; brothers Bill Gorden and Inez of Corsicana, Ray Gorden and Mary of Navarro Mills, Dewey Elton Gorden and Nancy of Dresden, and Raymond Gorden and Patsy of Barry; grandchildren Dee Kropik and Troy of Mesquite, Toby and B.J. Richardson of Corsicana, and Gary Richardson of Corsicana; eight great-grandchildren; special cousin Ethel Coley, who was her sister in her heart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
