Forney - Della Marie, 99, The Woodlands, Texas, formerly Nebraska, died Aug. 12, 2002. born, Sioux City, Iowa (4/25/03), to T. Schultz and Edith Barron Schultz. She spent most of her early years in Omaha where she completed her education and met her husband the late Dr. Lester W. Forney, M.D. A loving, devoted wife and mother, Della supported her husband's career and her children's education. Dr. and Mrs. Forney gave generously of their time in a civic realm, participating in activities in the Methodist Church and civic organizations. She played a major roll in establishing the public library in Mason City and played an active role in her membership of Order of the Eastern Star. Della was an avid bridge player, who was well-known for her expertise and continued her love of the game until her health declined.

Survivors: sons, daughters-in-law, Larry W. and Nan, Liberty, Texas, Lewis E. and Diana, Claremont, Calif.; sister Nell King, Bellevue, brother, Judson Schultz, Omaha; grandchildren, spouses, David and Charis Forney, Chatsworth, Calif., Luanne Forney Smith and Lindy, Daniel and Leah Forney, all The Woodlands, John and Deborah Forney, Columbus, Ohio, Jonathan and Jennifer Forney, Maui, Hawaii, Christopher Forney, Pasadena, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Carissa and Ryan Forney, Chatsworth, Kyle and Corbin Smith, Grace Forney, all The Woodlands, Leila and Selah Forney, Maui.

Memorial services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Lincoln Memorial Park Chapel, 6700 S. 14th St., Lincoln. She will be inurned alongside her husband, the late Dr. Lester W. Forney, M.D. In lieu of usual remembrances, family suggest donations to the Dr. Lester and Della Forney Scholarship Fund at the University of Nebraska, 8712 W. Dodge St., Suite 402, Omaha 68114, attention Amy Volk.
