FORMER BURGESS DIES IN VALLEY
Councilman Peter W. Morris Victim of Heart Failure at Carlisle Yesterday
Carlisle, Pa., March 22 -- Peter W. Morris, a Carlisle councilman and former burgess, died suddenly of heart failure yesterday afternoon at 3.40 o'clock. He complained of not feeling well in the morning and went to bed suffering from what he believed indigestion.
He was one of Carlisle's most prominent businessmen for more than a quarter of a century a member of the firm of Morris and Riley. He was active in the Union fire company, a good burgess and councilman and affiliated with the Reformed Church. Mr. Morris is survived by his widow, two sons, Herman and Monroe, and a brother James.

Funeral Party Proceeds in Spite of Heavy Rain; Councilmen at Services
Carlisle, Pa., March 25 -- In a downpour of rain the funeral cortege of Councilman Peter W. Morris proceeded to Chambersburg yesterday afternoon, where the body was placed in a mausoleum, to remain there until the one in Carlisle is completed. The officiating clergymen were the Revs. Elmer L. Coblentz, of Reading, Pa., former pastor of the First Reformed Church of Carlisle, and C. P. Kehl, of Carlisle. The pallbearers were: Burgess W. Harry Newsham, Councilmen R.R. Todd, James Dysert, former Councilman W.H. Goodyear, Robert Sipe and Harry Rinesmith. Members of the council and borough officials attended in a body.
