He had served 12 years with the US Air force as a Firefighter during the Korean War and until 1962. Upon leaving military service he became the primary caregiver for his parents. After his parents died, he moved from Alabama to Farwell, Michigan.
Roderick is survived by his brother, John and Nancy Aaron, sister, Sherril and Tom Smith, all of Farwell, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Carl and William, and sisters, JoAnne Holson and Jane Tackett.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 4, at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
