He was the husband of Rosa Abell.
Born Jan. 6, 1929, in Middleburg, Va., he was a son of the late Harry and Margaret Costello Abell.
Mr. Abell was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Orioles and Redskins.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Charles Kent Abell and wife Carol Ann of Urbana, and Steven Trent Abell of West Virginia; two brothers, James Abell of Bowie, and Forrest Abell of Virginia; three grandchildren, Anthony L. Wolf of Urbana, and Jennifer Abell and Steven Trent Abell Jr., both of West Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Sarah Darleen Abell of West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Abell will also be remembered by his friend Bill Owens.
Mr. Abell was preceded in death by six brothers, Spitler, William, Milton, Richard, Roger and Elmer Abell.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, until funeral services begin at 2 p.m. at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick
