Anna M. Frulla, a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who lived in Ridgefield close to 80 years, died on Saturday morning, Jan. 20, 2007, in Washington, Conn. She was 88, and was one the first residents of Ballard Green, staying there for some 25 years. She lived the last six years in Washington at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert Natale.
"My mother was the most wonderful mother in the world. She had four children who she devoted her life to," Ms. Natale said. "My mother adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well."
Annie Frulla was born in Yonkers, N.Y., on Aug. 8, 1918, a daughter of the late Antonio and Antonia Berardino Forcelli, and one of seven children. She moved to the Branchville section of Ridgefield with her family at the age of five and attended the one-room Branchville Schoolhouse.
She later lived many years on North Salem Road, cooking, cleaning and raising her four children.
"My mother loved to cook and was a wonderful cook," Ms. Natale said. "She kept an immaculate home and always made sure there was a fresh homemade cake waiting for us when we came home from school.
"She was gentle, loving, generous and kind to everyone. She made friends easily."
Mrs. Frulla lived at Ballard Green, the town's first housing for the elderly project, for about 25 years — almost from its opening until moving to Washington.
"She loved it," her daughter said. "Absolutely loved it."
She was a member of the Italian American Ladies Mutual Aid Society, the O.W.L.S., the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and of St. Mary's Parish and of its Rosary Society.
Beside the Natales, Mrs. Frulla is survived by a son, Gary Frulla, and daughter-in-law, Mary Frulla, of Ridgefield; two daughters, Antoinette LaBella and son-in-law, Richard, and Patricia O'Connor and son-in-law, Richard, all of Naples, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Yvonne Holm, Dennis Frulla, Tracy DeBeredinis and Jennifer Montoni.
Mrs. Frulla is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Paige Holm, Nina Holm, Jadon Holm, Cole DeBeredinis, Max DeBeredinis, Teddy DeBeredinis, Nico Montoni, John-Carter Montoni and Hunter Frulla. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Ridgefield.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Road, Kensington, CT06037.
