John Joseph Straubhaar
John Joseph Straubhaar 94 of Nampa, died Wednesday, Feb. 14 1996, in a Nampa retirement and health care center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a. m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Amity LDS Chapel 2212 E Amity Ave Nampa. Burial will follow in Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa. Services are under direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
John was born Nov. 4, 1901 at Montpelier, Idaho the son of Jacob Straubhaar and Lena Blaser Straubhaar. He grew up in the Montpelier and Bear Lake areas. At age 16, he moved with the family to Rupert, and John spent several years there and in California.
After moving back to Rupert he met his wife, Beatrice Gardner. They were married on her birthday, July 28, 1925. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Beatrice and John were married for 70 years and she is currently residing at Sunny Ridge Retirement Center. They were active members of the LDS church.
John farmed for 48 years in the Rupert Nampa and Kuna areas. He also worked at and retired from Amalgamated Sugar Co. in Nampa. He retired in 1973 and moved to Nampa.
John is survived by his wife three daughters and husbands, Lois and Jerry Thorne, Carol and Norman Tiller and Nola and Dale Stark all of Nampa, two sons and wives, John and Shirley Straubhaar of Twin Falls and Joseph and Sandy Straubhaar of Provo Utah, 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, six sisters, Mabel Kmebber, Della Kidd, Reva Black, Joyce Heinz, Lena Martsch and Edna Hoskins and a brother, Ernest Straubhaar. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hubert Straubhaar and a sister, Vera Straubhaar.
Friends may call today from 9 a. m. to 9 p.m. at the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
The family will greet friends Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. The family suggests memorials to the LDS Missionary Fund, c/o Bishop Monte Schierf 702 Fair Lane Nampa 83686.
