> Robert L. Barker, 88, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born April 6, 1918, in Granite City, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at Eden Village Retirement Center, Glen Carbon, Ill.

> Mr. Barker a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, retired as an operating engineer out of Local 520. He was an honorary member of Town and Country Gun Club, a member of Collinsville, VFW Post 5691, and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Troy, Ill. Robert was a resident of the Collinsville-Troy area since 1946.

> He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Barker whom he married April 6, 1946, and who died May 26, 1991; his parents, George and Anna, nee Mesplay, Barker; five brothers, his twin brother at birth, Raymond, Ralph, Glenn and Edward Barker; and four sisters, Gladys Caton, Gertrude Cooper, Louise Mayer and Ethel Schneider.

> Surviving are his sons, R.E. (Tammy) Barker of Hamel, Ill., and R. Louis (Carol) Barker of Collinsville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Susan Smith-Anderson, Robert Barker and Ryan Barker; four great-grandchildren, Drake, Skie and Donovan Barker and Seth Anderson.
