Mrs. Jennie Hickling, widow of Thomas Hickling, of Edmeston died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Wood, at Bouckville, early Sunday morning, following a long illness.
She was born in the town of New Lisbon, March 13, 1857, the daughter of John and Priscilla Gross Bassett. She taught school in local district schools and also taught music. She married Thomas Hickling of New Lisbon Feb. 23, 1881, and for many years they resided on a farm near Lena. About thirty years ago they sold the farm and moved to Edmeston where they resided until failing health compelled them to give up their home and reside with the daughter.
Mr. Hickling died May 25, 1941.
Surviving are one daughter, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
