PROMINENT BRANCHVILLE CITIZEN BURIED SUNDAY.
M. R. Looney, 72, a prominent merchant and farmer of Branchville, died at his home there Saturday, December 8. Mr. Looney had lived in Texas since 1868. He was left an orphan early in life but by thrift and industry had accumulated considerable property and lived to a good old age to enjoy the fruits of his labor. He was a brother of the late Col. Ike Looney, Representative of Milam county, who was buried on October 3, of this year. Mr. Looney was converted under the well known Baptist Evangelist, Penn, and was a faithful member of the Baptist church. The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon from the Branchville Baptist church conducted Rev. Graves Darby of Madisonville, and was largely attended. A number of friends attended from Cameron. interment was made in Port Sullivan Cemetery. Deceased is survived by his widow, two sons, Hugh and Will Looney of Branchville and two daughters. Mrs. J. Z.
