Mrs. Gowdy was born May 6, 1913 in Pineville, N.C., a daughter of the late John K. Hall and the late Maud Potts Hall. She was a widow of Mr. LeRoy Alton Wallace and Mr. Harold Gowdy. Mrs. Gowdy was retired from Santee Electric Power Company. She was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, where she was their pianist for many years.
Survivors include a son, Dr. James Bruce Wallace of Athens, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Louise P. Wallace of Lake City; two granddaughters, Sarah Petruziello (Howard) of South Orange, N.J., and Susan W. Dennis (Bobby) of Lake City; two grandsons, Dr. Alton Wallace (Sharon) of Conway and Chris Wallace (Lynn) of Ehrhardt; and eight great-grandchildren, Wallace, Lillian and Gabriel Petruziello, all of South Orange, N.J., Ben Dennis of Lake City, Kate Dennis of Lake City, Matthew and Banks Wallace and Mary Campbell, all of Ehrhardt. Mrs. Gowdy was preceded in death by a son, LeRoy A. Buddy Wallace.
The family of Mrs. Gowdy will have visitation following the service in the Hebron United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Graveside services for Mrs. Gowdy will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery.
