Obituary, Charles Robert Herbison
Charles Robert Herbison, 75, of Grand Junction, CO, and Sun City West, AZ, and formerly of Denver, CO and Winner, SD, passed away May, 10, 2000, at the Veteran's Hospital in Grand Junction.
Mr. Herbison will be inurned at St Anthony Mausoleum, Mt. Olivet Cemetery, in Golden, CO.
Mr. Herbison was born February 7, 1925 to Louis B. Herbison and Amanda Pipgras Herbison in Winner, S.D. He attended Winner schools, graduating from Winner High School in 1942
He served in WWII as a B-17 radio gunner and taken as a prisoner of war after his plane was shot down over Holland. Following his military service, he attended and graduated from the University of South Dakota.
In 1948, he was united in marriage to Virginia Hann, also of Winner. After a short time in business in Winner, the coupe moved to Denver, CO. where he established the Herbison Construction Co., and later formed a partnership as Werner-Herbison Construction, Inc.
He retired at age 52 and, later, the couple moved to the Sun City West, AZ retirement area. After 14 years in Arizona, they returned to Colorado where they built a home in Grand Junction.
Mr. Herbison is survived by his wife Virginia, son Douglas of Delta, CO, daughters Mary Ann Passerine, of Walnut Creek, CA, Jean Herbison of Lakewood, CO, and Barbara Gray of Golden, CO, brother Donald of Mesa, AZ, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey, his parents and sisters June McMath and Shirley Herbison.
