He was born March 9, 1926, in Noble County, son of the late Charles W. and Wealtha Mae Harbaugh Cain.
He was a 1944 graduate of Forest Grove High School, and he attended radio school for a year in Chicago. He was a U.S. Army veteran, who served during World War II.
Mr. Cain was employed by Bell Telephone and later by General Telephone, and he retired from the media department at Ohio University in Athens. He was a member of the NRA, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and golfing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Daniel A. Cain, in 1994; two sisters, Edna Wiley and Lucille Marquis; and one brother, Paul Cain.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta G. Koons Cain, whom he married July 8, 1950; one daughter, Sally E. (Kenneth) Mathews of Lancaster; two sons, George R. (Martha) Cain of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Dale O. Cain of Quaker City; two sisters, Virginia Walker and Flossie Lee, both of Canton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be observed Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Dudley Cemetery with Pastor Larry Jellison officiating. A veteran's service will be conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
