OBIT:The widow of Sidney R. Ford, grandson of one of Lewis County's earliest pioneers died Monday in a Raymond nursing home.Mary Elizabeth Ford, 92, was a pioneer also. She was born January 7, 1867 in Benson County, Iowa, and came west in a covered wagon. She settled with her family in McCleary and it was there she married Ford, grandson of Judge Sidney S. Ford, after whom Ford's Prairie is named. Sidney R. Ford died 28 year ago. Only one of their children, Mrs. Vera Sachs, Chehalis, lives in the Twin City area.Mrs. Ford had been a resident of Raymond for the past 45 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Nelson, Hoquiam; Mrs. Florence Gotsis, Raymond; Mrs. Connie Teagle, McCleary; Mrs. Gladys Chubb, Raymond; and Mrs. Sachs; a son Virgil Ford, Seattle; a sister, Mrs. Ava Lougheed, and a brother, Ira Ray, both Elma; 19 grandchildren , one of whom is Mrs. J. S. Turnbull of Chehalis, 44 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Murphy Mortuary, Raymond, with the Rev. E. G. Ranton officiating.
