Richard "Dick" Bailey, age 68 of Glendale, died peacefully on July 3, 2008. He was born in Orange, NJ on June 18, 1940 to the late John and Georgia Bailey.

Dick moved to Arizona when he was 5 years old to live with his grandfather. After graduating from the Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind in Tucson in 1960 he started working for Good Samaritan Hospital where he developed x-rays until he retired after 35 years.

For the last 15 years, Dick has spent many hours volunteering at the hospital, calling square dances and involving himself in community organizations, especially those which promoted improvements to the blind community. Although he had many interests, his main love was music.

Through his membership in the LDS church, he was able to express his love for music by becoming a choir director as well as a member of the choir in his church. The height of his music love was that he sang in the Arizona Mormon Choir for many years. During this time, the Choir was invited to sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dick is survived by his wife Pearl of 36 years and her sons Kent (Iris), Don L. (Cookie), daughter-in-law, Lurrene, his Aunt Kathy, cousins and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Pearl's son, Larry.

Visitation will be 9:15 AM, Friday, July 11 at the Church of Jesus Christ at the LDS La Pradera Park Ward, 4748 W. Orangewood Ave., Glendale, with services to follow at 10:00 AM.

Internment will follow at Glendale Memorial Park. Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
