OBITUARY

Frank Kendall answered death's call at the home of his brother T. M. Kendall, Cheyenne, Thursday, January 27th, 3:30 P. M. He had been in bad health for some time, but was in bed a short while prior to his death. His funeral services were conducted at Strong City. Rev. Trent and Wileman were in charge, and his body was laid to rest there at his request.
Uncle Frank was born in Jackson Parish, La., October 3, 1850. His father died in 1864, as the result of the war, leaving his mother with seven children, Uncle Frank, as he was familiarly known, being the oldest boy, a lad of fourteen years. Manfully he worked and managed to sustain his mother, and support the other children.
When they were grown up and married, his mother died. But ere long his sister's husband died, Mr. Jackson, father of Stonewall Jackson of Cheyenne. Uncle Frank again went to the rescue, and helped his sister rear her children. By this time he was well along in years thereafter living with his brothers, William, Samuel, John and Thomas Kendall, and his sister before mentioned.
Some thirty-nine years ago Uncle Frank was converted and became a member of the Baptist Church in Navarro County, Texas. Coming to Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, in an early day, he strayed from the fold, but some two years ago, came back to his Father's house, and thereafter lived close to God. He died ready, prepared to go, but looked on his life as wanted because of his backsliding.
Uncle Frank was loyal to his friends, faithful to his obligations, and a real brother to his family. Let his faults be interred with his body, but his splendid worth stand out for others to emulate. Farewell Uncle Frank.
