James E. Christenbury

James Elcy Christenbury, 43, of 2423 Trinity Ave., died Monday afternoon in Charlotte.

He was in military communications with Southern Bell Telephone Co., where he had been employed since 1954.

He graduated from Gastonia High School and Appalacian College. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gastonia, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Betty Harper Christenbury; his mother, Mrs. J. E. Christenbury, Sr., Gastonia; two daughters, Miss Cynthia Jane Christenbury and Miss Julia Ann Christenbury, both of the home; two sons, James Thomas and Jeffrey Scott Christenbury, both of the home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Charles B. Summey and Rev. Adrian Littlejohn. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.

The body will remain at Carothers, where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 o'clock.

Pallbearers will be G. L. Saunders, J. N. Joradn, D. N. Gibson, W. D. Flowers, J. H. Dameron, Jr., J. E. Iverson, W. J. Clarke, and D. A. Hawkins.
