Miss Julia Fillmore Harris

Julia Fillmore Harris owned and operated Miss Harris' Florida School first in Coconut Grove and then on Brickell Avenue in Miami and finally in Palm City, Florida.

She was born in Detroit and grew up in Minneapolis where after graduating in 1900 from the University of Minnesota with an A.B. in psychology, she taught Latin for a time before moving to Miami.

Julia Fillmore Harris was named for her grandmother, Julia (Fillmore) Harris, who was the sister of Millard Fillmore, the 13th President of the United States of America.
