Throughout his college years Frank was in the Army Reserves. In 1942 he was deployed as a 2nd Lt. and received several field promotions becoming a Captain by the end of the World War II. Frank stayed in the Army reserve after the war but bought a drug store in Electra, Texas. After mixed success in the private sector, he decided to go back in the service full time with the Texas State Guard in Wichita Falls. Later he was transferred to Texas State Guard in Austin as chief of staff and the rank of Colonel. Then in 1973 he became the director of personnel for the State Guard of Texas. During his forty-four year military career he worked his way through the ranks retiring in 1978 with the rank of Brigadier General.
Mr. Fisher will be greatly missed by his family and friends that survive him which include his son, Robin Fisher and wife Vicki; grandson, Jeffrey Fisher and wife Leslye; granddaughter, Amy Smith and husband Adam as well as 5 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 48 years Muriel Fisher and wife Jewell Fisher.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staffs of west minster Manor Heartland Healthcare and Odyssey Hospice and to Nurse Barbara James.
Mr. Fisher will lie in state throughout the day on Wednesday. Military Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, December 27at the Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, entombment will follow the services.
