COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Sarah Cartha Eargle Lee, 78, will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Stricklin officiating. The family will receive friends after the burial at the residence. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Lee died Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Born in Charlotte on September 20, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Minnic Luther and Lilly Blanche Shealy Eargle. Cartha received a Bachelor's degree from Western Carolina University in 1956. She was an elementary school teacher in the Asheville, N.C. public school system where she met her husband, Johnny Hayden Lee. After moving home to the Derita community of Charlotte, she dedicated her life to making a home for her husband and children first in Charlotte and then in her beloved, Columbia. She was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Morgan Lee and his wife, Lena, of Columbia, Graham Lee Glover and her husband, Dewayne Glover, of Irmo. She was a truly loving grandmother and is survived by five grandchildren, Michael Rothschild, Hayden Rothschild, Calieb Glover, Catherine Glover, all of Irmo and Chapman Lee of Columbia, who all loved her dearly. In addition, she is survived by a brother, William Eargle of Charlotte; sisters, Nancy Eargle and Jane Chapman of Charlotte; numerous loving nieces; nephews; cousins; her husband's loving family and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband; brothers, Glenn Eargle, Max Eargle, Minnic Eargle, Jr. and sister, Carolyn Eargle.
