Twin City - John Thompson, 79, died Friday in an Emanuel County hospital following a brief illness. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Peebles-Curry Mortuary in Swainsboro with the Rev. Frank Brinson officiating. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson, a native of Emanuel County, was a retired carpenter.

Survivors include a son, Nonan Thompson of Savannah; nine sisters, Mrs. Pearl Norris, Mrs. Carrie Johnson, Mrs. Leila Durden, Mrs. Nettie Wiggins, and Mrs. Etta Brinson, all of Swainsboro, Mrs. J.T. Rimes of Savannah, Mrs. Myrtle Price of Dublin, Mrs. Leona Hicks of Warner Robins, and Mrs. Ada Phillips of Orlando, Fla; a brother, Henry Thompson of Adrian, Ga; two grandchildren; and, four great-grandchildren.
