Green-Wood Cemetery
Section 59, Lot 1213.
This lot was purchased by the estate of Edward Gumbs on February 7 1846. Green-Wood cemetery was at that time in its 6th year of operation. The lot measures 14 x 27 feet. Approximately 60 burials occurred here, but only 5 individuals are memorialized in stone (Bates, Chase, and Gumbs). Several of the burials were reburials after removal from previous graves. The last burial here was in 1965.
