Mrs. Effie Fleisher Wagner, aged 78 years, 22 days, died at her home on Lower Strait Creek, Friday, December 3, 1948, at 7 pm after an illness of five months. She was born Nov. 11, 1870 and lived a greater part of her life in Highland. She married John Wagner to this union 11 children were born. Two died at birth and one son Marvin at the age of 11. She is survived by the following children: J. Fred, J. Orion, W. Bunker, Mrs. H.E. Alt, all of Monterey, Robert, Mrs. W.L. Bogan of Warm Springs and Forrest R. of Lynnhaven, Va. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Sudie Mullenax of Circleville, W.Va., 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Sunday at 2 pm at the Thorny Bottom Methodist Church of which she was a member. Burial was in the family cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Lloyd Wimer, Arlie Simmons, Russell Vandevender, Randolph Samples, Roy Fleisher and Oscar Wagner. The granddaughters carried the flowers.
