Ethel May Buckingham 88, of Sykesville, formerly of Ellicott City, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012.

Born May 1, 1924, in Linwood, she was the daughter of the late Sterling Ezra Blacksten and Lula May Yingling Blacksten. She was the wife of the late Floyd Edwin Buckingham.

She had worked for G.C. Murphy and Company for 24 years as stock room marker, and an electric pinning machine operator.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the 29th Division Post No. 48 in Westminster, and was a member of the Flohrville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters Virginia M. and husband Lorn Horner, of Bedford, Pa., Nancy L. Smith, of Sykesville, and Rita Buckingham, of Ellicott City; a sister, Evelyn Affeldt, of Ellicott City; a son-in-law, Winslow K. Smith, of Laurel; grandsons James L. Day, Jason L. Day and Ronald K. Smith; a step-granddaughter, Vicky L. Horner; great-grandchildren Ronald K. Smith, Jr., Zoe A. Day, and Sydney A. Day; and a step-great-granddaughter, Brooke A. Howard.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery.
