J. W. WAGNER DEAD

J. William Wagner passed away at his home on Lower Strait Creek Tuesday, July 9, 1946 at noon, after an illness since last December. Mr. Wagner was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John Wagner, early settlers of the county. With the passing of Mr. Wagner the county has lost an honorable and substantial citizen. He was eighty-two years of age in June. Surviving are his widow, the former Effie Fleisher and the following sons and daughters: Fred, Orion and Bunk Wagner of Monterey and vicinity; Forest Wagner of Norfolk; Mrs. Homer Andes of Staunton; Robert Wagner, Durbin, W. Va.; Mrs. H.E. Alt, at home; and Mrs. Bill Brogan, Rocky Ridge, one brother, Thomas Wagner, of Arlington and several relatives: Mrs. Ida Ryder, Mrs. Lucy Beverage, Mrs. Jerry Vandevender Mr. Dennis Wagner and possibly others. Funeral services will be conducted today; Thursday by Rev. L.P. Foley at two o'clock. Burial will take place at the family cemetery Lower Strait Creek.

Young Waggoner, son of Mr. John Waggoner, near this place, came near losing his life a few days ago from the careless handling of a loaded pistol. The pistol, from some cause or other was discharged, the ball passing through the wrist and entering the thigh above the knee. The wounds, though painful are not dangerous.
