In Memory of Myrel Gerhardt November 20, 1925 - March 1, 2013

Obituary: Myrel Gerhardt went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Friday, March 1, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She was born in San Saba County, Texas on November 20, 1925, to Elgin and Elsie Dennis. Myrel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold F. Gerhardt; three brothers, J. L. Dennis, Sam Dennis and Jerry Dennis; two sisters, Elsie Sue Dennis and Mildred Dennis; and a precious daughter, Brenda Sue Roberts. She is survived by her sister, Jo Beasley; three daughers, Marla Giddens, Kay Jay and Mary Etta Gerhardt; three grandsons: Keith Giddens and wife Brigitte; Kevin Giddens, and Kelly Giddens and wife Sandra; eight great-grandchildren: Alex Giddens, Jaina Giddens, Mackenzie Giddens, Jackson Giddens, Elisa Giddens, Hailey Giddens, Sergio Giddens and Lucy Giddens; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Myrel's life was one of courage, resolve and love for friends and family. After growing up in and around San Saba County, she spent time in Ft. Worth, Texas, before moving to San Angelo, Texas, in 1945. She worked tirelessly for 34 years at San Angelo National Bank, and retired to work with her husband at Hudman Drug for several years and did volunteer work through R.S.V.P. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than cooking a meal for her family, and she made holidays and mealtimes special occasions, always ending with one of her delicious deserts. She was an avid bowler and traveler, going throughout the U.S. for bowling tournaments and on many trips with friends and family. She was always the leader of the group, showing Marla, Kay and Mary Etta the wonders of many places including Hawaii, Alaska and Mount Rushmore. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3rd 2013 at Johnson's Funeral Home Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Jose Flores officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.The family wishes to thank friends and Odyssey Hospice for their loving support.
