Death of a Veteran
Henry C Weed died very suddenly at 4:00 a.m. Monday. Deceased was in his 82nd year. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Co. E 2nd Wis Infantry. He came here from the Waupaca soldier's home several years ago and has made his home with his brother, C. F. Weed, the route man. Funeral from the M.E. church at 2:00 Wednesday. Deceased was a member of the G.A.R. post at Oshkosh.
Mr. Weed was taken prisoner at the battle of Bull Run and confined in Libby prison. He was badly wounded in the arm by one of the guards, when he approached too near a window.
